Coaches are great at planning for their students but often we overlook planning for our business. We've created a worksheet for you that will prompt you to think about your goals and how to organize your ideas into a plan that can be executed.
Start by writing all of your goals that you may want to accomplish in this year. You can include personal goals, professional goals and goals for your business. This is brainstorming so put every idea that comes to you in this section. Take your time with this step to make sure that you have time to think of all your goals.
Now, prioritize your goals. What do you want to accomplish this year? What goals will you wait to work on in future years?
Further categorize your goals and break them down into what do you want to work towards first, second, third, so on and so forth. One approach is to break your goals into quarters or in 12-week segments. The book, The 12 Week Year, describes this approach in an easy to understand and practical way.
Which of your goals do you want to accomplish in Quarter 1, 2, 3 and 4?
Now look ahead at your Q2, 3 and 4. Do you need to do anything for your Q2,Q3,Q4 goals in Q1? For example, if your goal is to enroll 20 new students in your summer session, you may need to advertise or run promotional events in Q1 to achieve that goal. Organize these steps for your goals.
Do you need any outside resources to help you achieve your goals? Financial resources? Knowledge on a certain topic?
Now, take all of this information and organize the first 12 weeks of your year. What do you need to do in Week 1 to reach your Q1 goals? Week 2? Week 3? Week 4? This will help you create a weekly to-do list for your first 12 weeks and you can repeat this exercise for each quarter.
